HR Recognition Awards: Commission Members chose Terri & Bart Wasilenko/NAMI of Cayuga County Co-Founders for this year’s Community Award. NAMI is the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill. In addition, Stacey Petrosino is the Volunteer Award Recipient for her work with breast cancer awareness and her creation of RISE: Reaching & Inspiring Survivors Everywhere. Throughout the month of October, both recipients are actively involved with awareness efforts for their designated causes for the betterment of the community in which they live. Program Keynote Speaker is Ricardo Aguilar Sarg is a native of Guatemala and is currently the New York State Labor Department Rural Employment Aid. All proceeds from the $10 ticket donation benefit the Auburn Human Rights
Scholarship Fund 2006.
Media promotions are complete and sent to services organizations, churches, schools, newspapers, radio, cable television, general public. Also notified: City Manager, Councilors, Mayor, County Legislators, School Board, State/Federal politicians. Reception food is ordered and ready for pick-up. Engraved plaques ordered/ready for pick-up. Program design is completed.
TomatofFest netted $10 for scholarship, $71 in petty cash from sales of t-shirts/hats, wooden multicultural globes. Foot traffic appeared to approve this year from last year but there is room for more improvement. We requested that Tomatofest organizers place a children’s show or activity inside the building in order to draw more visitors to the service organization’s awareness booths.
Attended United Way fundraiser kickoff. Theme “You are what matters.” Well attended with many community leaders, politicians, and services organizations.
Attended Salvation Army Board Meeting. They, too, are beginning their season for raising funds. Guest speaker focused on public relation efforts to secure more donations, ie. through planned giving awareness, etc.
